Thank you so much for your sponsorship to American Wilderness Leadership
School. What an incredible experience! Our home for the week was Granite Creek
Ranch southeast of Jackson, Wyoming. The staff there had scheduled a week
filled with a combination of conservation and ecology lectures, guest speakers
from area parks and agencies, introductions to outdoor pursuits, and exceptional
recreational activities. My personal highlights from the trip included fly-fishing
and whitewater rafting the Snake River, the breath-taking views of mountains,
creeks and prairies, and the inspiration and knowledge gained from an incredibly
friendly, experienced and qualified staff. I have attended many educational
programs and workshops, but have never been more impressed by the quality
of the presentations. Most of the speakers had decades of experience in their
field, some over 30 years, and all shared a deep appreciation of our wild
places. I left the school with a much greater appreciation of western ecology,
a reinforced awareness of the important role sportsman play in wildlife conservation,
and a motivation to share this knowledge with others. My hope is that in my
professional life as a high school biology teacher and in my personal life,
I can share this knowledge and appreciation with others, and in some way,
show my gratitude to SCI by accomplishing the goals set out by the American
Wilderness Leadership School. Thanks again for allowing me this wonderful
opportunity. I would welcome the opportunity to become more involved my local
chapter of SCI, so if there is anything I can do to help, please don’t
hesitate to ask.
Keep up the Great Work!
Sincerely and Gratefully-
